Walmart Thief

A Johnsonburg woman is in trouble with the law after being accused of stealing from a store in St. Marys.
Charges including retail theft have been filed against 52 year old Regina Patalano after she was caught taking merchandise from the Walmart Super Center about a week ago.
No court date has been announced.

Public Assistance Fraud

90 days to one year behind bars and one year supervised probation…
That’s what’s now facing a Curwensville man after he plead guilty to felony and misdemeanor welfare fraud charges in Clearfield County Court.
39-year-old Donald F. Bradley, along with his 35 year old wife Rebecca Bradley, were both charged with illegally receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or (SNAP), Low Income Home Energy Assistance or (LIHEAP), cash assistance, and medical assistance benefits amounting to more than $41,000.
Rebecca Bradley was sentenced to 24 months supervised probation.
Both Donald and Rebecca were ordered to pay full restitution, plus court costs and fines, and were both disqualified from receiving cash assistance benefits for six months and SNAP benefits for 12 months.

Man Killed By Train

A grisley accident in Clearfield County has claimed the life of an elderly man.
Sandy Township Police say 89 year old Robert Kennedy of Dubois was crossing the railroad tracks along Route 219 and Watson Highway around noon on Wednesday in his side-by-side utility vehicle, when he was hit by a Buffalo and Pittsburgh train.
Kennedy’s UTV was hit by the lead engine and thrown back about 30 feet from the tracks. Kennedy was flown to UPMC Altoona where he later died from his injuries.

Shooter Sought

State Police now say they believe they know who shot an IUP student.
Police are hunting for Eagan Minic who they say shot a 20-year old man early yesterday morning in the leg after he parked his car at teh Maple Street apartments in White Township in Indiana County.
Police believe Minic was the one behind the wheel of a silver Lincoln MKZ which was recovered after the shooting.

Drive-Thru Heroin

Here’s a story from our “just when you thought you heard it all” category…
Police in Pittsburgh have arrested a McDonald’s employee there who they say sold heroin in Happy Meals.
Shania Dennis was arrested Wednesday afternoon after police say 10-stamp bags of heroin were discovered in a Happy Meal box and another 50 bags were found on her.
According to police, customers looking for heroin were told to go through the drive-thru and say “I’d like to order a toy.” The customer would then be told to go to the first window and receive the Happy Meal with the heroin. The customer would pay for the drugs and leave without stopping at the second window.

19 Year-Old Charged With Threatening Women With Shotgun

A 19-year-old from Blair County was arrested Thursday after he allegedly threatened to kill two women.
Greenfield Township Police arrested Devon Oldham after they say he pointed a loaded shotgun at his girlfriend and her sister.
Oldham was taken to the Blair County Prison, with bail set at $75,000. He now faces two counts of aggravated assault.

One Dies at Elk County Plant

One person died and two others were injured in an accident at the Mersen USA plant in Saint Mary’s yesterday. No details about the accident have been released, but the Elk County Coroner confirmed that one person was killed in the incident. One of those injured was flown to the hospital.

Man Arrested After Pointing Gun at Women

A 19-year-old Greenfield Township man fases aggravated assault charges after he allegedly threatened to kill his girlfriend and her sister. Police arrested the man yesterday morning after he allegedly pointed a shotgun at the two women.

Man Arrested for Sex Relationship with 15-Year Old

He’s alleged to have had an on-going relationship with a 15-year old girl, now the 29-year old Atoona man faces a list of charges including statuatory sex assault, a corrupting a minor. Michael J. Vaughn Junior’s relationship with the girl started out with text messages last September, according to court documents… eventually turning physical… the victim claiming that at least once, Vaughn dropped his wife at work, then picked up the victim and drove her to his house when she was supposed to be at school. That he even signed her out of school so the two could have sex.
