New Penn State President Chosen

Penn State University’s board of trustees on Monday named the University’s 18th President.
Dr. Eric Barron was unanimously chosen to officially take office May 12th, with a five-year contract through June 30, 2019.
Dr. Barron is a former faculty member and Dean of the University’s College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. He comes to Penn State from Florida State University where he currently serves as president.
Dr. Eric Barron will receive a salary of $800,000 per year, under terms of the five-year deal.
Dr. Barron, in accepting the position, said he believes Penn State is past the Sandusky scandal and has become a role model on how to deal with the challenges that came with that scandal.
