A post-conviction petition filed by an Altoona man who claimed he was unaware that he would be handed a 12-year minimum prison sentence for drug offenses when he pleaded guilty more than two years ago has been rejected. Blair County Judge Jackie A. Bernard rejected the argument by 40 year old Alexsi Lopez, who was sentenced by Bernard to at least 12 and possibly up to 30 years in a state correctional institution,. Lopez claimed he was under the impression when he entered his guilty pleas that his minimum sentence would be 10 years… saying in his petition that he was unaware of the 12-year minimum because his trial attorney never told him that prosecutors had taken the 10-year minimum off the table because he failed to accept the plea offer by a certain date.
