The prison sentence of an Altoona man who has been behind bars since 2018 after his arrest in 2015 on 39 charges including weapons charges, following a high speed chase, has been re-affirmed. Now 41 year old Troy Stehley appealed his 8 years and 6 months to 17 year prison sentence as too harsh. The Pennsylvania Superior Court disagreed, and on Wednesday, the court upheld that sentence, saying Judge Daniel J. Milliron did not impose an improper sentence on Stehley, whose criminal record dates to his juvenile years. Stehley’s attorney argued many of the crimes stemmed from his client’s addiction to drugs. But the Superior Court panel concluded the judge’s sentences were within the standard range of Pennsylvania’s sentencing guidelines. Stehley remains behind bars at the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale.
