ALTOONA MAN DISPUTES MURDER CHARGE

An Altoona man has pleaded not guilty to murder charges. 35 year old Vasilios Pentsas Jr was in Blair County Court on Tuesday, when he told Judge Daniel J. Milliorn that he will contest first-degree murder and other charges he faces in connection with the November death of 29-year-old Andrew Ozio of Hollidaysburg. Altoona police arrested Pentsas… charging him with the death of Ozio… who was found dead back on November 9 in an alley off East Crawford Avenue. Ozio, according to police, had suffered three gunshot wounds, one each in his neck, chest and head. A lead pipe and three .40-caliber casings were found near his body. Pentsas admitted to arguing with Ozio over a $440 marijuana deal, and police also say that he told them that he had a friend who had been assaulted earlier in the day with a lead pipe because of the disputed marijuana deal. Pentsas faces charges including first-degree murder; third-third degree murder; two counts of aggravated assault; terroristic threats; harassment; five firearm offenses; tampering with evidence; possession of a controlled substance; and purchase of a controlled substance. He remains behind bars in the Blair County Prison without bail.
