Crews responded to a church fire in Somerset County earlier today. According to Tony DeGol, Secretary of Communications for the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown, crews were able to stop the fire from spreading into the church. However, the attached rectory and social hall are a total loss. There have been no reports of injury. According to dispatch, the crews were called out to the Holy Family Catholic Church at 321 Sugar Street to battle the blaze at 8:36 a.m. The Church has a history of fires. On April 29, 2008, a candle lit a backdrop near the alter and caused $200,000 in damages.
