MILLIRON TO STEP DOWN AT THE END OF THE YEAR

Blair County Judge Daniel J. Milliron announced on Monday that he plans to retire at the end of this year. Milliron, who will turn 66 this year, was elected to a second 10-year term that started in January 2016, meaning he was originally going to remain on the bench through the end of December 2025. On Monday, Judge Milliron issued a written statement, saying that he had given the idea a lot of thought, and he will offer more details closer to the end of the year. He also said however, that he is not planning on changing his mind between now and then. A former mayor and former Altoona Area School Board member, Milliron ran for judge in 2005 when he secured his first 10-year term. He ran successfully for retention in 2015. He says having the position has been the highest privlege of his life.
