An Altoona couple is facing child endangerment and drug charges after police say they discovered “absolute deplorable conditions” inside a home where a child was shocked by an electrical outlet. According to a criminal complaint, officers were called to the home of 43-year-old Kenneth and 29-year-old Sherry Meek, located along 4th Ave., Saturday after a 6-year-old shocked her hand in an outlet around 1 a.m. They say the girl was in distress and crying with black burn marks on her hand that were likely first-degree burns. Police say they also found more than a dozen syringes and suspected methamphetamine and heroin paraphernalia out in plain view. According to the complaint, emergency custody for the children was granted to Blair County Children, Youth and Families.
