WOLF RELEASES PLAN TO GET STUDENTS BACK IN CLASSROOMS

Governor Tom Wolf on Wednesday, released details of a plan that places emphasis on getting students back in the classrooms across the state. It means that teachers and school staff will receive the first doses delivered to Pennsylvania of the newly approved one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine. A first shipment of some 94,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine were expected to arrive this week, and vaccination at more than two dozen sites around Pennsylvania with the new vaccine, began yesterday. Those vaccines, combined with updated state guidelines to school districts that were also handed down on Wednesday, all are aimed at stepping up the efforts to get school districts statewide to expand in-person instruction. Here in Pennsylvania, the goal now is to offer a shot to every public and private school employee, including teachers, bus drivers and administrators. While getting the vaccine is voluntary, it comes with a clear expectatioin that once vaccinated, school employees will go back to work promptly.
