CDC SAYS “DITCH THE MASK”

New CDC guidance as of Thursday, will permit fully vaccinated people to go maskless almost everywhere. But the CDC still advises unvaccinated people to wear masks in many settings. While it is welcome by most people, it also is going to be done in somewhat of an honor system. Yesterday, the CDC said fully vaccinated people only need to wear masks in crowded indoor settings, and on buses, airplanes, in hospitals, prisons, and homeless shelters. At the same time, officials recognize that there will really be no way to enforce mask wearing on unvaccinated people. Asking for such a thing as a peek at someone’s vaccination card could likely create constitutional issues. Stores… even those who may still ask people to wear masks, are not likely to confront anyone who is not wearing a mask as that could put employees in a difficult position. As one merchant said when asked about it by the local newspaper… “It’s America.” Anyone still worried about getting infected by unmasked people who are unvaccinated can still wear a mask themselves if they want to.
