The Curve came up short in the season opener at Peoples Natural Gas Field Tuesday night because of Mother Nature. After a long stretch of 610 days without a game,the Curve hosted Bowie before a sold-out crowd of 2,300 fans last night. Following a 1-hour, 27-minute rain delay in the seventh inning, Altoona lost 2-1. The two teams combined for 31 strikeouts. The Curve set a franchise pitching record for strikeouts in a nine-inning game with 17. The previous record was 16, set in 2010 against Erie. Tuesday’s game was also the latest date for an Altoona opener in franchise history. The previous latest season start at home was April 9.
