Death Investigation Now Homicide Investigation

According to Pennsylvania State Police in Bedford, a death investigation turned into a homicide investigation after a man was found dead in Liberty Township. Troopers said 53-year-old Daren Lingenfelter of Claysburg was struck with an arrow discharged from a crossbow at the 100 block of Railroad Ave. at about 10:30 Sunday morning. Authorities said Lingenfelter was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bedford County Coroner. According to state police, 24-year-old Alec Rhoads was arrested at a home in James Creek in relation to the incident. Troopers report Rhoads will be arraigned on charges of First and Third Degree Murder and Criminal Homicide, along with assault charges.
