GAS GOING UP

The price at the pump has jumped up considerably since the beginning of the year. Now, it may jump up even more, and even faster. A pipeline hack could cause dramatic increases just ahead of Memorial Day, pushing US gasoline prices to their highest level since 2014. The cyberattack disrupted operations on the nation’s biggest oil fuel pipeline…. the Colonial Pipeline… which is a key artery for gasoline, diesel and jet fuel produced by oil refiners on the US gulf coast and major metropolitan areas between Atlanta and New York. The longer the disruption lasts, the more likely officials say it is possible that some areas… especially in the northeast… could see some drastic price increases at the least, and possibly even some shortages. Those shortages in turn, could result in an increase in foreign imports of crude oil… further increasing prices. Gasoline last topped the $3 average in October 2014. It could be there again by Memorial Day.
