David Kennedy, president of the Pa. state troopers association, has released a statement demanding an apology from Gov. Tom Wolf over comments made in a statement released by the governor’s office, which referred in part, to the deaths of African Americans at the hands of police, calling them painful reminders that racism and intolerance are still with us today. The full statement from Kennedy said police ask for little in return. He said over the past year, most police have taken the high road, despite the actions of a few. He said even as Gov. Tom Wolf marched in protest in Harrisburg against law enforcement, troopers surrounded him to make sure he was safe. Kennedy says Governor Wolf failed to protect state troopers during the pandemic, even though they went to work every day. He said they asked for masks but were told they couldn’t get them. They asked for vaccines but the governor ignored that request. They even lost a trooper to the virus in a station parking lot, yet they never heard from the governor, who never even offered thanks for the trooper’s sacrifice. To this day, the Wolf administration has never done anything to ensure troopers received vaccinations, yet they keep working. Kennedy says however, that troopers will not remain silent when Gov. Wolf insulted law enforcement during the recent National Police Week. He said for Gov. Wolf to use his platform to further push a false narrative that police are racist murderers is nothing less than the worst kind of political pandering.
