WOLF URGED TO LIFT RESTRICTIONS AHEAD OF MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

A group of Pennsylvania Senators have sent Gov. Tom Wolf a letter asking him to lift the COVID-19 mitigation orders on Friday, May 28, rather than on Memorial Day… arguing that a full holiday weekend would help businesses recoup the losses they have suffered so far. In fact, nearly half of the state’s senators support the move. They say lifting the restrictions on the Friday before Memorial Day makes more sense than the governor’s current plan, which removes theme on Monday, May 31st. Three days they say, would make a huge difference for the hospitality and tourism industries, which have been hurt badly by Wolf’s drastic shutdowns, and have devastated many employers, industries, and much of the state’s economy overall. A spokesperson for the Wolf administration however, said the governor remains comfortable with the May 31 date at this time.
