9/11 COMMEMORATION NEARING

Beginning this Sunday, free tickets will be available for the upcoming Central Pennsylvania commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, which will be held at 7PM on September 11th at the Jaffa Shrine Center in Altoona. The featured speaker will be Jim O’Bryon, a national defense and security consultant who held a senior position at the Pentagon at the time of the 9/11 attacks. Also featured will be the Altoona Youth Orchestra, the Altoona Community Band, and the Hollidaysburg Community Chorus. Admission to the 9/11 commemoration is free, but tickets are required. Tickets are available at the Jaffa Shrine Center in Altoona; Thompson Pharmacy in Altoona and Hollidaysburg; Greenwood Pools and Spas in Altoona; the Gingrich Insurance Agency in Altoona; the Tyrone Chamber of Commerce; the Pastry Box in Bellwood; Garland Supply in Martinsburg; Roaring Spring True Value; and Martin General Store in Claysburg and Williamsburg. Active military members, religious leaders, police officers, firefighters, and medical workers are invited to register for the Walk of Honor, which will be introduced by Vietnam veteran and Pittsburgh Steelers legend Rocky Bleier.
