DUNCANSVILLE MAN SENTENCED FOR ASSAULTING STATE TROOPER

A man from Duncansville was sentenced on Monday in Clearfield County Court, to 6-months to 1-year in jail, followed by 2-years of probation after being found guilty by a jury in April of assaulting a state trooper. 41 year old Jonathan Chirdon was convicted of two counts each of aggravated assault and simple assault in connection with the incident that took place as he was being transported to the county jail following an alleged assault on a woman. Before the judge handed down the sentence yesterday, Chirdon apologized… saying it never would have happened if he hadn’t been drinking. Since then, he told the judge that he has received treatment and has been sober for 15 months. The officer involved in the altercation suffered a contusion to his lip and gums.
