A Blair County Prison inmate who escaped last week by walking off a work detail, has been captured and is back in custody. 41 year old William Hampton was arraigned Sunday on one felony charge of escaping custody. Altoona Police found Hampton yesterday at 1am at a home in the Juniata section of Altoona. Hampton escaped last Thursday while he was part of a prison details working at Fairview Cemetery. At the time of his escape, Hampton was serving time for a parole violation from previous drug charges. After he was unable to post cash bail of $200,000, he was returned to the Blair County Prison on Sunday, where he most likely will not be out on any work details for a while now due to the latest charge he now faces. He has a preliminary hearing on that felony charge now set for July 28th.
