HOLLIDAYSBURG SCHOOLS POSTPONE MASK DECISION

The Hollidaysburg Area School Board met Wednesday, and decided to postpone adopting a health and safety plan for the upcoming school year, after hearing from parents and community members… most who were critical of the idea of requiring students to wear masks and to continue the practice of quarantining in cases of contact tracing. Some parents said they saw no end to it… saying every few months there will likely be new variants. For instance, the Delta Variant is making headlines now, but parents say it is overblown because most people who get it only suffer mild cold like symptoms. They said the decision should be up to the parents on how to handle their children being in possible contact with COVID-19. They also pointed to growing evidence that virtual learning is not good for the overwhelming majority of kids.
