SECOND ARREST AFTER SHOOTING

Altoona police have made a second arrest in connection with a shooting on August 12th in the parking lot near Zach’s Sports and Spirits. 48 year old Clifford Baxter now faces felony counts of attempted homicide, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and several other charges. Police said Baxter pleaded guilty in 2011 to a weapons offense in New Jersey, and he then spent 87 months in prison, and another 3 years on probation. They say Baxter also pleaded guilty in 2020 to a felony charge of intimidation of a witness or victim in Pennsylvania. At the time of the shooting earlier this month, he was already under the supervision of Blair County Probation. Baxter is now in the Blair County Prison, and he is being held there under a cash bail of $500,000
