An Altoona man is headed to prison for decades… 36 year old Ryan Bare was sentenced Thursday, to 18 – 39 years in prison for dealing in drugs and charges involving firearms. Bare pleaded guilty almost a year ago to the charges, after he first went to trial, but testimony quickly showed that Bare sold drugs to confidential informants and that additional drugs, packaging materials, cash and a gun were found in a March 2019 search of his Third Avenue home. According to court records, Bare’s drug-related offenses in adult court date back to 2004 when he was 19 years old. He has previously served time in county and state prisons. Now, before Bare is transferred to a state prison for his latest sentence, he has more outstanding criminal charges to address… mainly drug related, and including his role in an organized effort to smuggle drugs, tobacco and paraphernalia into the Blair County Prison. Bare was one of five inmates charged back in March, after an investigation into operation that was discovered last January.
