Charges against the wife of Somerset County’s suspended district attorney were dismissed Wednesday. Amy Thomas was scheduled for a preliminary hearing at the Somerset County Courthouse in front of Westmoreland County Senior Judge Mark Bilik. Thomas was facing simple assault and harassment charges stemming from an incident where she allegedly admitted to digging her fingernails into the arm of her husband, Jeff Thomas, during an argument, according to the affidavit in the case.
Jeff Thomas reportedly tried to have the charges withdrawn Sept. 13 before being charged himself days later with sexually assaulting a woman, according to investigators. Court officials confirmed Wednesday that Amy Thomas’ case has been dismissed.
