Altoona Man Involved in Thursday’s Standoff

A follow up on yesterday’s events in Tyrone. Tyrone police have charged an Altoona man following an hours-long standoff on Thursday. Police say Shaquille Williams, 27, faces charges of illegally possessing a firearm, theft, receiving stolen property, making terroristic threats and simple assault. Authorities say just before 9 a.m. Thursday, officers received a report from an individual who said that he had allowed Williams to stay at his residence, located along the 800 block of Washington Ave., but that Williams had begun making threats towards him and others and demanding money. Investigators say Williams also told the victim that he was going to “rob places” and even threatened to shoot up a school. Williams was arraigned to the Blair County Prison, on $350,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 1.
