Police Search for Man Accused of Throwing Hammer at Woman

Police in Somerset County are searching for a man accused of throwing a hammer at a woman during a domestic dispute and strangling her, according to a criminal complaint. Authorities say Steven Kerik, 44, is facing charges of strangulation, aggravated assault, making terroristic threats and reckless endangerment following the dispute. Police say the victim told investigators that Kerik assaulted her multiple times on the night of Jan. 25, including strangling her to the point that she was going to pass out, because she did not want to go with him to the local gas station.
Police note that when the victim attempted to leave, Kerik threw a hammer at her.
Police say the investigation is ongoing as authorities have not yet been able to make contact with Kerik.
