Officials with the Altoona Area School District say they are investigating a “cybersecurity incident” within the school. According to a letter sent out Wednesday from the Superintendent — addressed to faculty and staff — the district “recently discovered it was the victim of a sophisticated cybersecurity incident, which impacted certain internal systems.” Officials said their IT department worked to contain the incident, and “third-party forensic advisors and external legal counsel were engaged to assist.
