An Altoona man is behind bars after assaulting a man with a hammer and threatening to kill him, according to police. On Sunday, police responded to a home on the 2000 block of 6th Avenue, in which they met with the victim who says Joshua James Claar, 42, struck him on the head with a hammer and said “I’m going to kill you,” Claar was charged with both first and second-degree aggravated assault and multiple misdemeanors. He is being held in Blair County Prison.
