Authorities with the Lawrence Township police department say a Colombian national is facing charges after being accused of trying to solicit sex from a Clearfield County couple posing as a teenage girl. Police say 27-year-old Edwin Gomez-Lamadrid faces charges of attempted corruption of minors and criminal solicitation, according to online court records. Investigators say on Sept. 20, officers were dispatched to the area of the McDonald’s and Super 8 hotel, located along Route 879 in Lawrence Township, for a report of a male who was attempting to meet with a 15-year-old girl. According to the affidavit, the couple had allegedly been granted permission to do so by the Clearfield County District Attorney in order to “catch predators online.”
