Authorities with the Hollidaysburg Borough Police Department say five inmates and a corrections officer are facing charges for their involvement in the assault of another inmate at the Blair County Prison in September. Police say the victim was assaulted inside his cell and suffered numerous injuries including a broken nose and jaw, two broken orbital bones, multiple facial lacerations and a concussion.
Investigators say, upon reviewing prison surveillance video, they identified the corrections officer, who assisted in facilitating the assault, as 28-year-old Eric Dostal Jr. Police say Dostal was witnessed opening the victim’s cell, prior to the assault, after being approached by an inmate, identified as 44-year-old Richard Ewing.
