AWA Considers Program Aimed At Bringing Water Customers Into Compliance

The Altoona Water Authority is considering implementing a program to help bring water customers into compliance with laws requiring backflow prevention valves and annual testing. Controlling backflow helps to keep contaminated water from flowing into public systems. According to a rep from the National Weather Specialties Company, most commercial and institutional customers have such valves already but usually aren’t getting the required annual tests, while most residential customers don’t have the valves.
