TROUT SEASON BEGINS SATURDAY

Trout season here in Pennsylvania… a traditional rite of spring for many… will officially open tomorrow. Anglers can cast their first line into the water Saturday beginning at 8am. This year is a far cry from last spring’s confusing start to the season, when the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission… under the direction of Governor Tom Wolf… suddenly and without advance notice, announced an early start of the season for the entire state on April 7th… early that same morning. It was a move originally intended… according to the Wolf administratioin… to cut down on intra-state travel by fishermen during the coronavirus scare, but it turned out to be nothing more than chaos in many places. This year though, things return to pretty much normal, with one statewide opening day… announced ahead of time as usual. Anglers are still being asked to keep a distance beetween themselves and other anglers… 6-feet is about the length of a fishing rod…. Probably a good idea anyway if for no other reason than to keep from hooking the person next to you!
