The fifth-annual Cambria County Hero Hike returns at Ghost Town Trail next weekend. The hike is planned as part of Armed Forces Day ceremonies on May 15th to honor active military personnel. It is billed as not only a great day to hike, bike or run, but also a great way to say thank you to our veterans. The Hero Hike will begin at 9am in Nanty Glo and end in Ebensburg, where a brief ceremony will be held at 1pm at the Pfc. Peter Coleman Memorial Underpass in Ebensburg. During that ceremony, the story of Coleman… who died in January 1968 while defending the U.S. Embassy in Saigon will be told. The underpass was named in his honor in 2016. Donations are welcomed but are not required, and all proceeds will go to Veterans Community Initiatives.
