On Tuesday, Pennsylvania voters made national headlines when the state became the first in the nation to curb a governor’s emergency powers, by approving constitutional amendments proposed by Republican lawmakers who represented a majority of state residents who, as it turns out, were more than a little upset over Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf’s failed handling of COVID-19. The constitutional amendments approved Tuesday, will now give lawmakers much more power over disaster declarations. The state’s Republican Party chairman released a statement, saying that Pennsylvanians voted to “put a stop to Gov. Tom Wolf’s dictatorship.”
