AG Shapiro Visited Altoona Tuesday

Attorney General Josh Shapiro visited Altoona Tuesday to discuss law enforcement staffing shortages. Trying to find a solution to what he calls, “an historic public safety staffing shortage,” AG Shapiro visited Altoona to talk to local police leaders and city staff about what those solutions may be. Shapiro adding, “In the Altoona Department, five years ago the chief told us they would get 70 applicants, now they get a quarter of that.” Shapiro, who is also running as a Democrat for governor, was asked if he was concerned his party’s rhetoric would break down such funding talks. “I don’t support defunding police and I never have.”
