PA Covid Cases Continue to Decline

This week marks two years since the first Covid-19 cases were reported in Pennsylvania. As of Monday, The Pennsylvania Department of Health has reported 43,600 people have died from Covid-19 and has 2,764,085 overall cases. In our region, the PA DOH reports 3,221 deaths over that span. Cambria County, which at one point in the pandemic was averaging the most cases per capita in the nation, has seen the 4th most cases per capita in the state. Meantime, UPMC has returned its COVID-19 units to their normal uses in its hospitals across Central Pennsylvania after it was reported they are beginning to see a significant drop in inpatient care for the virus. The health care provider announced the shift today after it reported only 23 COVID-19 inpatients were currently being treated across its Western Central Region.
