Electricity Rates to Go Up

In addition to higher gas prices, grocery bills increasing and supply chain issues causing more inflation, another cost to factor in your summer budget – higher electricity rates. On Wednesday June 1, electricity rates will be going up, so now is the time to shop around. According to Pennsylvania’s Public Utility Commission press secretary, Nils Hagen-Frederiksen, in two weeks you could see electricity rates increase between 6% and 45% depending on which utility you use. Right now, there are higher market prices for electricity, this is due to the changes in supply and demand for natural gas.
