The Altoona Housing Authority and Altoona Police have come to terms on a deal under which the department provides part-time dedicated coverage for the downtown towers. A contract the authority had with a private security firm ended recently. Years back, the police department provided similar coverage but stopped due to staffing issues. They’re trying to get a handle on drug dealing and other malfeasance.
