News Staff Registration is now open for the Altoona Area Public Library’s summer programs. The 2023 Summer Quest is an eight-week program for all ages. This year’s theme is “All Together Now.” The summer fun kicks off Friday, June 9 at the Altoona Area High School at 6 p.m.
The Huntingdon County coroner was sent to the scene of a deadly two-vehicle crash on Route 453 that closed nearly 8 miles of the roadway this morning. Fire and ambulance crews from Blair and Huntingdon Counties were dispatched at 7 a.m. One person died in the crash.

New details were released surrounding the homicide of an Altoona man who was hired by his alleged killer for excavation work. Austin Kline, 22, of South Fork, was arrested on Friday, May 26 after state police found 55-year-old Richard Morgan dead in Kline’s garage during a search of his home.
A masked man is accused of breaking into a home and trying to steal lawn equipment overnight in the City of Altoona. The masked man, who was identified as 35-year-old Robert Pfahler II, allegedly broke into a home on the 300 block of 5th Avenue. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 7th.
The Johnstown Police Department unveiled new patrol lights that they say will help with public safety and increase officer visibility. The department’s nine patrol cars all have these new lights. These lights were free of charge for the department.
