Rep. Shuster Passed Away Wednesday

Former U.S. Congressman Bud Shuster passed away on Wednesday at the age of 91. He was elected as a Republican to the 93rd Congress on Jan. 3, 1973, and served in 14 succeeding Congresses until Feb. 3, 2001.

Man Arrested After Two Burglaries

Two burglaries in three days led state police to a Roaring Spring man’s home where a man was taken into custody for both break-ins at Puff Super Value.Court documents show that 21-year-old Harley Sims was charged with burglary, theft, and trespassing. Sims was charged and placed in Blair County Prison with bail set at $50,000.

Pair Flown to UPMC Altoona after Motorcycle Crash

Authorities are saying today that a Reynoldsville man and woman were flown to UPMC Altoona after being thrown from a motorcycle when a car hit them. The crash happened Tuesday, April 4 just before 8:30 p.m. on Route 119 in Bell Township. The driver of the car was not injured.

Altoona Couple Charged with Squatting

An Altoona man and his girlfriend have been placed behind bars after Altoona police said they found them living in a vacant house weeks after the tenants were evicted. Police arrested and charged 31-year-old Jacob Parrish and 26-year-old Samantha Goodhile on Friday.

Blair County to be Part of National Opioid Settlement

Blair county commissioners say the county has opted into a national opioid settlement that could help establish a drug rehabilitation program without raising taxes. Blair County Commissioner Laura Burke said, “We’re looking at somewhere between two to five million dollars in funding.
