Five people taken to the hospital after over 100 firefighters battled a three-alarm fire at Hotel Crittenden, a historic hotel built in 1891, in Coudersport Wednesday morning. Crews were dispatched to the hotel on the 100 block of N. Main Street just after 6:30 a.m.

Former Nurse to Serve up to 30 Years in Prison

A former nurse from UPMC Carlisle will serve up to 30 years in prison after sexually assaulting two emergency room patients and secretly video-recording hundreds of others, including children. Attorney General Michelle Henry announced former nurse Michael D. Bragg, 42, of Franklin County, will serve 15 to 30 years in prison.

Largest PA Coal Plant to Close

The largest coal plant in Pennslyvania announced it will stop burning coal as it plans to be decommissioned this Summer. The Homer City Generating Station plans to begin the shutdown process on July 1. The plant tried to continue its operations despite economic and staffing struggles.

Altoona Firefighter Advocates for Suicide Prevention & Safer Gear

Altoona firefighter and western vice president of the Pennsylvania Professional Firefighters Association Pat Miller advocated for suicide prevention and safer gear during Governor Josh Shapiro’s visit Monday afternoon. Gov. Shapiro Visited Altoona Firefighters Monday Morning

Governor Josh Shapiro visited firefighters and emergency personnel in Altoona this morning where he spoke about his new budget proposal. Shapiro spoke from the Altoona Fire Department where he outlined his proposed state investments of $36 million in new equipment and training for firefighters and EMS personnel.

Additional Charges in Altoona Burglary

More charges have been filed in an Altoona burglary where three guns were stolen from a home in February. Shannon Cullen, 37, of Altoona, faces felony charges of burglary, theft and criminal trespassing after the guns were stolen from the home along 4th Avenue.

Pittburgh Homicide Suspect Arrested in Altoona

Police arrested a fugitive wanted for a homicide in Pittsburgh on Wednesday in Altoona. Aaron Smith, 29, of Pittsburgh, was arrested by The City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit in assistance with the Altoona Police Department. Smith was accused of fatally shooting a man in the North Side of Pittsburgh in February.

Fake School Threat in Bedford County

Emergency crews responded to another fake school threat this morning, this time in Bedford County. State police say the threat call was a false alarm triggered by the school’s sprinkler system. This follows multiple “swatting calls” Wednesday morning at schools in Cambria, Centre and Blair counties.
