Head-On Crash Victim Identified

Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees has identified the victim of a Monday morning, head-on crash on Somerset Pike. Lees says 58-year-old Margaret Holdsworth suffered multiple blunt force trauma injuries in the crash. The other driver was uninjured.

Family Services Incorporated officially unveiled its brand-new family shelter to help with the homeless population. This new shelter is located on Branch Ave in Altoona. It’s near the Blair County Community Action and the St. Vincent De Paul Soup Kitchen which both help homeless individuals and families.

Sen. Fetterman Checks Himself into Hospital with Clinical Depression

Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman, still recovering from a stroke, checked himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to seek treatment for clinical depression, according to his office. An Altoona man is behind bars after police said he ran from a traffic stop only to be found with a gun and drugs in his backpack. Troopers pulled over 18-year-old Kalb Clifford Feb. 8 after he failed to stop at a red light going over 8th Street away from the UPMC Altoona area.

Gov. Shapiro Wants to Do Away with Death Penalty

Gov. Josh Shapiro said today he will not allow Pennsylvania to execute any inmates while he is in office and called for the state’s lawmakers to repeal the death penalty. Shapiro said he will use his power as governor to grant reprieves to any inmate whose execution is scheduled.
