Hit & Run in Altoona

A high-speed chase with four teens that led to a hit and run in Altoona ended on I-99 with the driver being arrested. The driver, later identified as 19-year-old George Stevan Alonso Rusinque, of Boalsburg. Rusinque was placed in Blair County Prison in lieu of $35,000. Fortunately, no one was injured.

PA Elections Officially Certified

Pennsylvania’s top elections official fully certified results from the November vote late last week after recount petitions in some counties had delayed the process, this from the Department of State earlier today. Acting Secretary of State Leigh Chapman completed certification of all races in the 2022 midterm election on Thursday.

Flooding at the Galleria Mall

Officials say freezing temperatures caused several pipes to burst at the Galleria Mall early this morning, resulting in severe flooding on the first floor of the building. The mall was open and shoppers were seen on the second floor. Officials have not yet revealed the extent of the damage.

Fire Displaced Family in Cambria County

A fire that broke out at 1000 Old Miller Road in Cambria County displaced a family of four on Christmas Eve. The call came in at 6:40 p.m. and the scene was cleared before 9 p.m. The Red Cross was called to help care for the family. Officials also say no injuries were reported.

One Person Died, Two Injured in Altoona Crash

Altoona police say one person was killed and two others seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in Altoona early this morning. The crash occurred along the 1100 block of the 10th Ave. expressway. The driver, 22 year old Collie Brown, was pronounced dead at the scene and two passengers were transported to UPMC Altoona.

Blair Co. Law Enforcement to Receive $4.3 million in Upgrades

Blair County law enforcement will soon be getting an upgrade to their communications equipment. The county was awarded $4.3 million of the $5.3 million in grant money they applied for from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. The money will go towards new radios, tablets for cruisers and de-escalation training.
